Revise Your 2026 Before It Ends: Neville Goddard’s Nightly Revision for December

A gentle bedtime practice for the last weeks of the year: rewrite the day, soften the year, and carry the winner’s feeling into 2027.

How did this year go so fast?

It feels like only yesterday we were writing our hopes for 2026. Now the evenings are dark early, the shops are filling with Christmas lights, and there is that quiet, reflective feeling in the air.

Maybe you look back and smile. Maybe there are a few moments you wish had gone differently: a sharp word, a disappointment, a month when money felt tight, a door that didn’t open.

Today I would love to share a gentle practice that helps me close the year softly. Neville Goddard called it revision, and December is the perfect month to begin.

🌙 What Neville Meant by Revision

Neville taught that imagination is not a daydream we escape into. It is the place where our reality begins. His revision technique is one of the simplest and kindest ways he shared to use it.

At the end of the day, as you lie in bed, you replay anything that did not go the way you wished. Then you gently imagine it the way you would have loved it to unfold. You stay with the new version until it feels natural, settled and kind, and you fall asleep in that feeling.

You are not pretending the day didn’t happen. You are simply choosing which version you will carry forward.

The old scene stops repeating. The new scene starts growing.

If you are new to Neville, my post on what Neville Goddard really meant by imagination creates reality is a gentle place to start.

🎄 Why December Is the Perfect Month

December is naturally a month of looking back. We send cards, we count our blessings, we think about the people who shaped our year.

When I turned 52, I sat down and asked myself some honest questions: Have I lived a meaningful life? What have I created, learned, given, and overcome? Those questions changed how I see the end of every year. I no longer rush past what happened. I let myself feel it, and then I choose what I want to keep.

Revision gives that reflection a soft, practical shape. Instead of carrying regret into January, you carry a story that has been lovingly rewritten.

🌿 How to Revise a Single Day

Here is the simple way I practise the revision technique. It only takes a few minutes.

  1. Settle. Lie down, let your body grow heavy, and take a few slow breaths.
  2. Choose one moment. Just one. A tense conversation, a worry about a bill, a moment you felt small.
  3. Replay it as you wish it had gone. See the kind words, the calm answer, the good news. Hear it. Feel it.
  4. Add one small, real detail. A smile, a hand on your shoulder, someone saying “Thank you.” Small details make the scene feel true.
  5. Repeat it until it feels natural. When it feels like a memory rather than a wish, you are done.
  6. Fall asleep in the feeling. Let the new version be the last thing you hold before sleep.

If you love working with that drowsy state before sleep, my guide to Neville Goddard’s SATS technique goes deeper.

✨ Revising Your Whole Year, One Evening at a Time

You don’t have to fix twelve months in one night. Let December carry you gently, week by week.

Week 1: The little moments

Start small. A rushed morning, a missed bus, an evening you felt tired and short with someone. Small scenes are easy to revise, and they build your confidence.

Week 2: The people you love

Revise a conversation with a partner, a child, a friend or a colleague. See it ending with warmth and understanding. Often you will notice your real feelings towards them soften too.

Week 3: Your money moments

Think of a time this year when money felt heavy: a bill that frightened you, a purchase you regretted, a month that ended with almost nothing left. Revise it. See yourself paying with ease, smiling at the balance, feeling safe.

This is not about denying what is in your bank account. It is about changing the feeling you attach to money, so that fear is no longer the music playing underneath.

Week 4: Rest and gratitude

In Christmas week, revise less and thank more. Replay the good moments of your year and let them grow bigger and brighter in your mind. Gratitude is its own kind of revision.

🌸 What Revision Is Not

  • It is not pretending pain did not happen. Your feelings are real and they deserve kindness.
  • It is not blaming yourself or anyone else. You are simply choosing a new story.
  • It is not a replacement for real help. If something is serious, please also reach out to the people and professionals who can support you.
  • It is not about perfection. Some nights you will drift off halfway through. That is completely fine.

On harder evenings I come back to the affirmation I say every day: “There is no real difficulty in my life. Everything that happens is ultimately for my growth and advancement.” It helps me revise with a softer heart.

🌟 Ending the Year With the Winner’s Feeling

On the very last nights of December, I like to change the practice a little.

Instead of revising the past, I imagine the future as if it has already happened. I picture myself a year from now, looking back on 2027 with a full heart, and I let myself feel how it feels to have won: in love, in health, in peace, in money.

“Live as though the wish had come, even though it is yet to come, and you will shorten the period of waiting.”

Neville Goddard, The Law and the Promise

This is the winner’s feeling. Not anxious hoping, but calm, grateful knowing. You go to sleep on New Year’s Eve already the person you wish to become.

If you would like to put that feeling into words, my post on how to write your 2027 winner’s script walks you through it, step by step.

And if your dream includes a lottery win or more financial ease, I share the mindset and gentle rituals I use in my book, Make Your Lottery Win Come True. Please always play responsibly, only ever spending what you can comfortably afford.

💛 A Soft Closing for Your Heart

Your year is not finished yet.
There is still time to soften it.
There is still time to choose the story you carry forward.

May your evenings be calm.
May your old scenes lose their weight.
May your new scenes feel natural and true.
And may you step into 2027 with the quiet, grateful feeling of a winner.

I would love to hear which moment you will revise first. Please leave a comment. I will read every one.

With warmth and gratitude,
Lily Grace
